IN 2026 WE’RE HOPING TO OFFER HANDS-ON AND PERSONALISED LEARNING PATHWAYS FOR STUDENTS IN YEARS 7-10 - PENDING FULL SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Broome Enterprise Academy (BEA) is a new independent school in Broome, Western Australia, serving students in Years 7–10 who would benefit from a different way of learning. The school’s approach is culturally responsive, hands-on, and project-based, with integrated vocational streams in hospitality, horticulture, media, engineering and automotive.

BEA has been established by Broome Youth and Families Hub (BYFH) Ltd., an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation with deep connections across the Broome community and a strong track record of delivering youth and family support programs. Students enrolled at BEA will have direct access to BYFH’s wraparound supports, including after-school programs and school holiday activities, ensuring our cohort is engaged year-round!

BYFH has successfully received Advance Determination and we are now finalising our Registration Application, which is with the Department of Education. We will open in 2026 pending a decision from the WA Director General of Education.

OUR LEARNING APPROACH

The program will combine culturally safe, hands-on project-based learning aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and enriched by bicultural perspectives and Vocational Education and Training pathways. Through on-country camps and activities—such as crabbing, bush medicine gathering, traditional crafts, and exploration of Kimberley Aboriginal history—students will deepen their connection to family, culture, and country while developing academic, practical, and interpersonal skills. Local industry partnerships enable vocational skill sets in hospitality, horticulture, engineering, and automotive to be woven into real-world projects like boat building and enterprise development, empowering students to gain marketable skills, produce tangible outcomes, and foster a lasting sense of belonging, purpose, and pride.
